Open Letter to the CEO of Compass Inc.
Why did you cave in to the liars instead of supporting your employee?
Dear Mr. Reffkin:
I am writing to you regarding Janet Roberson, one of your real estate agents in Benicia, CA. Sorry, one of your former agents in CA. She made the mistake of speaking out publicly about something she believed in, something the toxic left of California could not permit.
She spoke out about the sexualization of children’s education, her children’s education, in her community, to her children’s school board. Now whether you agree with her or not, she has a right under the Constitution to speak her mind. And those who disagree with her have a right to do so also.
But those who disagreed with her decided to contact Compass, to make false statements about Mrs. Roberson. The said she was a Nazi, a homophobe, a racist - all the usual attacks of the left on someone whose beliefs they disagree with. They contacted your company with their lies. And you listened.
Then, as a company, you chose to terminate her contract. Your excuse was that the team she worked with didn’t want her with them any longer.
While that may or may not be true, it’s irrelevant in the larger picture. As Mrs. Roberson has said publicly, Compass - you - could have supported her, could have affirmed her First Amendment right to her opinions. You could have found her another place within the operation. You could have affirmed her American right to her opinions.
But - Compass did not. You did not. You folded, you chose to dismiss Mrs. Roberson, to give in to the people who opposed her, who made false claims about who she is, what she said.
Need I remind you, Anheuser Busch, the brewers of Bud Light, made a similar mistake in deciding to support a person who many Americans do not see as representative of them. And AB continues to pay for that mistake, because the average American decided that Bud Lite was no longer their choice of beer.
Let’s see if the average American has similar opinions about their choice of realtor.
This letter is to inform you that I am starting a social media campaign on this issue in support of Mrs. Roberson. I will be asking the tens of thousands of people who follow me in various social media, and the many more thousands in groups to which I belong, to copy and forward to their own friends a letter outlining how Compass has failed Mrs. Roberson, how Compass has caved in to a leftist ideology that, at its extreme, demands that children be medicated and surgically mutilated. I will be asking these people to find another realtor than Compass to handle their real estate needs. I will then be asking them to ask their friends to do the same.
Those many thousands of people will, hopefully, repeat the process.
You listened to Natalie Christian of the Benicia Independent when she threatened you with a mere 1000 - 1500 readers. Honestly, I am stunned that a company of your size responded to such a puny threat. Let’s see how you respond to the tens of thousands of individuals I am able to reach all across America.
My goal is to cost you - and unfortunately, your agents, who don’t deserve to be punished for your corporate mistake - as many millions of dollars as I possibly can. It’s the only message I can think of that will get your attention. And unlike Ms. Christian with her pissy little newsletter, I can actually accomplish this.
My goal, to use the current vernacular, is to “Bud Light” your company. It’s what you deserve for what you’ve done, and it’s a uniquely American kind of punishment isn’t it?
Perhaps the next time you have the chance to choose sides, you’ll be smarter and decide not to. To recognize that there are just as many people who agree with Mrs. Roberson as disagree. To butt out, not engage in the culture wars, but instead, stick to your business.
Or - you can decide to make it right with Mrs. Roberson. That would be the right thing to do. I wonder if you’re up to that. I imagine we will see, won’t we?
Yours truly,
W. J. Moran
