Dear Eventbrite
I have used your platform numerous times in the past both in America and in Canada and have been pleased with both the ease of use, and the results.
However, Thursday morning I and tens of thousands of others read on the Jonathan Turley blog and elsewhere about your recent decision to cancel Riley Gaines’ event.
Your decision forces me to make a choice: Eventbrite will now no longer be my platform of choice for events ticketing.
The timing is unfortunate, as I had been considering using Eventbrite for some of my higher dollar events which I have previously kept inhouse, some of which go $1000 per person.
I will be communicating this decision to over 100,000 people on my various social media sites. The majority of these are in the boating world, and many are high income individuals. I will be asking them specifically to not use your platform for any events they might be planning, and not support organizations/events which do use your platform.
Bottom line, I refuse to allow you to force your corporate morality on my life. Nor am I the only one, your action has offended an easy 50% of the population of the United States. You might ask Anheuser-Busch how that went for them.
I regret this decision, but there are other platforms that do not attempt to limit other peoples first amendment rights and I will be migrating my business to those platforms.
For your edification, below my signature I’ve attached just one of the comments I have read regarding this issue. This one is far from the most virulent comment about what you have done.
Just this morning, before sending this, I read in the Washington Times about your founder’s, Kevin Hartz, remarks to Outkick, after your company was found to be supporting Hamas events. So I only have this to add - Mr. Hartz, we the People are going to eff you over. We’re sick and tired of people like you and the corporations you run.
Regretfully,
Wally Moran
P.S. Kevin Hartz - the video below shows some of the atrocities perpetrated by Hamas. View it or not as you wish, it’s extremely graphic, but you should see and understand just what it is you’re supporting.
WARNING TO ALL READERS - This video is extremely graphic, and shows atrocities by Hamas against Israelis, including the beheading of an Israeli worker.
Letter from Turley blog -
Riley Gaines is not a hate-mongerer. She merely believes, along with most of the world’s population, that men and women are different, and that women’s sports should be for women – not performative simulacra of women and womanhood.I have a good deal of sympathy for members of the trans community, and have for decades. But the new trans movement is not about being, as closely as possible, or about living, as a member of the sex you were not born to. It’s about hatred of women as such – we have bearded “women” with penises and testicles proclaiming themselves “true women” and vastly superior AS women to those who have known the actualities of femaleness in the world – including menstruation, fear of the larger, more violent sex, and, in some instances like my own, forcible penetration of an orifice which these “women” will never possess.
It’s ludicrous and obscene.
Anyone who watches that video and refuses to call that terrorism has lost their humanity, along with those terrorists.
