Earlier this week, Governors Ron Desantis and Greg Abbott (FL and TX) took a stinging shot at the Biden administration’s immigration - I was about to use the word “policies”, but really, that word isn’t appropriate without adjectives. So, more correctly, the Biden administration’s parody of effective immigration policy. I’ll give you all a moment to guffaw and get it out of your system before the tears start.
What those two mischievous lads did was truly an Olympic class troll of the left - they transported groups of - let’s call them what they are, illegal immigrants - to that whiter than white, wealthy liberal enclave Martha’s Vineyard, (87% white, 1.3% Hispanic, 0.3% Asian, 3.7% black), and to the front door of VP Kackles Kamala Harris’ home in DC.
The roar you heard came from both sides - on the left, screams of agony and outrage. From the right, howls of laughter, applause and calls of “Bravo, encore, encore!” You knew this was big news when it bumped Trump hatred off the front pages of the liberal media. The sanctimonious sanctuary cities plight and the wroth of their leaders was the news of the day.
Within hours - nay, milliseconds of the wheels of the planes touching down, the left was accusing Desantis and Abbott of kidnapping these illegals, of human trafficking, of playing nasty political games with real live people (insert irony or eyeroll emoji of your choice here) and pretty much everything else (including racism natch!) that you can imagine.
Pundits, including a number of idiots with JDs who quoted scripture federal statutes proclaimed that transporting illegals within America was a crime. Apparently, they are unaware of the concept of irony, given that Biden has been transporting illegals asylum seekers all over America for the last 20 months. The fact is, since these people have been permitted to enter America by the government, it’s not illegal to transport them. Is it?
I’m not going to rehash the debate, the whining and crying of the left, or the chortles of the right, over this issue. I have a much different point to make, as we’ll come to in a moment.
Desantis flew 48 people to Martha’s Vineyard. They went there in an air conditioned plane, were fed, given pillows and otherwise treated well. On arrival in MV, the locals took over and, to their credit, treated them kindly, finding them a place to stay and arranging for food, medical care, etc.
Not that any of that quieted the local’s outrage. Oh no. The presence of 50 brown people in Martha's Vineyard without leafblowers in hand was not to be countenanced. This was cruelty in the extreme. Where would these people stay? This was a crisis.
Let’s not pay any attention to the fact that Martha’s Vineyard goes from a population of 17,000 out of season to 200,000 during the season. Caring for 50 people was a crisis and, as the left will tell you, never let a crisis go to waste.
This story, unless Abbott and Desantis Deathsantis do this again - which, truth to be told, most conservatives are hoping to see, will wither and die within the next few days. The left will move on to its next outrage, which will probably be Trump oriented and involve the appointment yesterday of a special master - but, as Foth would say, I digress.
Headline: Death toll rises to 53 after bodies of migrants found in Texas tractor-trailer
June 22, 2022
The death toll of migrants who died after they were abandoned in the back of a tractor-trailer that was discovered Monday in San Antonio rose to 53 on Wednesday, according to the Bexar County medical examiner. More than a dozen others were taken to local hospitals with heat-related injuries.
Among the dead were 40 men and 13 women, the medical examiner said.
Federal law enforcement officials confirmed to CBS News Homeland Security and Justice reporter Nicole Sganga this appears to be the deadliest human smuggling case in modern U.S. history…
… On Tuesday morning, Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said on Twitter, citing U.S. authorities, that the victims included 22 Mexicans, 7 Guatemalans and two Hondurans.
"The scene was tragic beyond words," McManus said. "I don't understand how anyone could be so callous as to allow it happen and run from the scene."
San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said the 16 people taken to the hospital were all conscious when they were found, though they were "weak" and would have been unable to leave the trailer on their own. He said all were "hot to the touch" and suffering from heat-related injuries like heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
He said there were no signs of water or a working air conditioner in the truck, and authorities said it's not clear how long the group was in the truck before they were found.
As you read this, a Tucson AZ pastor, Oscar Andrade, is searching the desert for an illegal immigrant who is, in all likelihood, now dead.
The Tucson-based Pentecostal pastor bushwhacked for three hours in heat that rose above 100 degrees, detouring around a mountain lion, two rattlesnakes and at least one scorpion before taking a short break to call the aunt of another missing man. Andrade believed he found the young man’s skull the previous day.
“Much strength, my dear sister,” Andrade told her, while she repeated incredulously that the “guide” [editors’s note - cartel coyote] had assured her he left the young man with injured feet but alive.
“Sometimes we don’t understand, but there is a reason that God allowed this. And if you need anything, we’re here.”
On the fourth search for that 25-year-old man from the Mexican state of Guerrero, the pastor and his Capellanes del Desierto (Desert Chaplains) rescue and recovery group had found his ID card in a wallet 40 feet away from a skull and other bones, picked clean by animals and the relentless sun in the Tohono O’odham Reservation.
Since March, Andrade has received more than 400 calls from families in Mexico and Central America whose relatives — sick, injured or exhausted — were left behind by smugglers in the borderlands…
…[Andrade’s group] also works closely with law enforcement, notifying the Border Patrol of every search and then local authorities if it finds human remains, as it has nearly 50 times.
So, I have ONE question for every liberal in America who thinks that the Biden administration’s immigration policies are just and humane, who buy into the VP’s BS assurances that “the border is secure”.
When will you God- damned hypocrites cry out for the dead, instead of those who were merely inconvenienced?
And by “merely inconvenienced”, I’m not talking about the illegals. I’m talking about your fellow liberals in places like Martha’s Vineyard, or Chicago’s mayor Lightfoot, or DC’s Mayor Bowser? According to what they’ve said, they’ve been “terribly inconvenienced”, “morally outraged” and otherwise bothered by what Desantis and Abbott have done.
I mean, we know none of you give an honest damn for the illegals, or you’d have joined in the effort to keep them from attempting to make the trip to America during which so many have died.
When will you cry out for the dead?
With photos and excerpts from the New York Post, CNN and Tuscon.com
When will they cry for the dead?
When it benefits them politically.
Sad but excellent piece Wally
